So You Want to Become a Member
of the Lake Placid Rotary Club

Many people join Rotary as a means of "paying back" for the professional success they have achieved. They are looking for ways to help others. When you join Rotary, you play a role in helping the club achieve its community and worldwide goals. This is done both through involvement in community projects and financial support.

Rotary Club membership is a great way to mix with community leaders from all walks of life and to hear outstanding speakers each week. Our club meets at 7:30 AM Thursdays for breakfast at Howard Johnson's on Saranac Ave. in Lake Placid. Each week we plan future programs and projects and listen to a speaker discuss something interesting. Please come and join us to experience what Rotary is really all about.

The Lake Placid Rotary Club sponsors several activities in our community. We recently revitalized two area Parks, sponsored two students to Rotary's UN Day each November, Awarded our Annual Kate Smith Scholership and are supporting Keela Dates with her Reason 2 Smile School project in Kenya. Our major fun raiser is the Annual Dam Dack Race each June..

To be eligible for membership with the Lake Placid Rotary Club, prospective members must be:

• personally and actively engaged in the business or profession for which classification they would qualify;
• be of good character and have a good business and professional reputation;
• engaged as proprietor, partner, corporate officer or manager;
• hold a position in an executive capacity;
• or act as the local agent or branch representative of a worthy and recognized business or profession.

If you wish to be considered for membership, the Membership Committee requires that you and a current member of the Lake Placid Rotary Club complete an Applicationon  and submit it in to the club thru your sponsor. After the Membership Committee and the Board review your proposal form, you and your sponsor will be informed of the status.
