We welcomed Jen Balog. Executive Director of the Adirondack Health Foundation. Jen emphasized the critical synergy between the Foundation and Adirondack Health. She highlighted Adirondack Health's status as a "unicorn" among healthcare systems due to its continued independence and community-rooted approach. Highlights of Jen's presentation included: 1) the strategic recovery from a $14 million deficit in 2022 which resulted in stabilizing the system and allowed for current growth; 2) the role of the Foundation in supporting access to care, bringing innovation through advanced technology, and personnel development through scholarships and education. Adirondack Health maintains 21 specialties and operates the only dialysis unit within 50 miles, recently receiving a $1.4 million grant for upgrades. The $12 million raised in the Cornerstone Forward campaign is being used to renovate 35 patient rooms to modernize the hospital. Jen invited the community to support the hospital through giving, advocacy and a revitalized volunteer program launching in July.
