At today’s meeting, Adalyne Perryman, Administrative Assistant for the Adirondack Family Book Festival, previewed the upcoming fifth annual festival scheduled for August 15th at the Lake Placid High School Oval. Designed to be a free, inclusive, and walkable community event, the festival features 15 children’s and young adult authors and illustrators. Activities include panel discussions, Q&As, and book signings aimed at fostering open, positive ideals in local youth. The lineup includes several regional writers to bolster the local literary community. For the fifth anniversary, special Friday events at John Brown Farm will feature a compass hike and a bird-watching hike. Adalyne noted that the festival attracts a diverse mix of permanent local families, home-schooled children, high school volunteers, and regional visitors traveling from as far as Syracuse, Rochester, New York City, and Ohio.
